my summer list.

I had already started a list of things I wanted to do this summer, but then Kendall did a post about it and I decided to share my own list with you.

So, here it goes...
  • have a Psych night with friends
  • reread/read these books:
  • and Little Fairy wants me to read these:

  • go to a graveyard and get pictures made in Civil War era dresses. Okay, an explanation: one of my best friends is participating in the Athenaeum Rectory here in town. Which means that for an entire week she gets to dress, act and be a part of the Civil War era. She and my sister and I are around the same size, so this summer we are going to head out to an old cemetery in the country and take some pictures of us all in those amazing dresses. I will have to fabricate a story to explain the length of my hair, though.
  • spend a weekend watching nothing but Jane Austen - inspired movies.
  • make our Halloween costumes (in all their Downton Abbey glory)
  • write more
  • sketch more
  • make more videos
  • read the last *sniff* Artemis Fowl book
  • dance more, because I miss it more than I thought...
  • take more photos
  • watch all the Harry Potter movies in a week
  • finish painting these canvases (the pink one will be painted like an antique handkerchief with a quote in the middle - any suggestions? the other one will be... Downton Abbey. I know I'm obsessed.)
  • have a Hunger Games DVD premiere party
  • start a blog dedicated to food (thoughts?)
  • quote National Treasure on the Lincoln Memorial while we are in DC
  • swim in the rooftop pool at the hotel in DC with the city lights glowing
  • eat plenty of Mexican food
  • walk through downtown Franklin and take snapshots of strangers and "moments"
  • have a water balloon fight
  • Rollerblade, if I ever get the chance
  • eat more cake (seriously)
  • try new food
  • JUST DANCE party
  • above all, be spontaneous and think outside this list on occasion.
Of course, this list doesn't include things I have to do like check out colleges or VBS at our Church. Un-fun stuff isn't included. But. I did decide to make a list of strictly fun stuff I would love to do if I ever got the chance:
  • lightsaber duel
  • build the Deathstar and/or the Millenium Falcon out of legos
  • go to Europe
  • write a bestseller
  • go to Prince Edward Island
  • learn archery
  • ride a horse
  • solve crimes with Benedict Cumberbatch or "Santa Barbara's finest"
  • go to Europe
  • run into Logan Lerman or Jake Gyllenhaal spontaneously
  • watch the filming of series 3, Downton Abbey
  • eat a picnic in the middle of the desert
  • write/direct a film with Emma Thompson
  • and, oh yeah, go to Europe
So that's it, my summer in lists. What about you, any fun plans this summer?

recital - the last one.

The last recital week ended on Saturday. So dance is over. I totally embarrassed myself by balling my eyes out in a crowed room full of strangers on my mother's shoulder, it was only like 30 seconds before I pulled myself together but still...I don't cry. I was going to write a beautiful post on reflection and memories but I'm not sure I can. I had a great performance weekend, only a couple very minor mistakes - and my point shoe ribbons coming undone on both feet, the final night, but whatever. I had fun and an awesome dressing room full of incredible girls. It was great. Very bittersweet though. I will miss singing in the wings at recital. And grape hairspray. Stage makeup. And glitter overload. And my super mondo awesome understudy class. And new costumes and big rehearsals. And barre work to the Avett Brothers. And leaping across the floor with besties to tunes from Mama Mia. All of it. But I'm getting through because everything will always be okay and Summer is finally here. And I bought two books today. :)

So, here are some pictures from dress rehearsal that PB was able to get...

P.S. And I am so sorry for the lack of blogging, we'll try and make up for in June.

yeah, it's been awhile...

Recital had LF and I running ragged. But now that it is *sniff* over. I can blog a little something for all you dears.

So I signed into Blogger today and I realized quite shockingly that I hadn't been on in days. It's hard to check out blogs on Leo, (the trusty old iPad), and Foaly has become increasingly more clunky since we got the iPad, so i just haven't signed in.

There were so many posts. Dozens and dozens. Although I don't read every post, (I know, I know.) I do like to know how you all are doing, where your thoughts are and things like that. I realized that I would have to start setting aside some time just to check up on everyone.

Anyways.

With it being Memorial Day weekend I have the absolute pleasure of watching Star Wars on Spike. *Fists hand, raises it and brings it down slowly* Yes.

Despite being utterly exhausted we went to Church this morning and had a delish lunch at a place downtown. ( Here's a funny: while typing downtown I wanted to type downton instead - perhaps my withdrawal is affecting me more than I realized.)

Tonight we will watch the last Sherlock of series two. We missed it last week, so with our grand new DVR we recorded it. I hope it's good. The last two have been pretty good, a lot better than the last two in series one anyway.

Has anyone else been missing Common Law and Fairly Legal since the took this week off. LF and I have been watching episodes over and over again...

And that's all I can muster at the moment. I know it's weak, but well, there it is.

shawn 2.0 and benedict yancy grogan...among other things.

It's been too long since we've blogged. Sorry about that.

Today was my last time dancing at my studio. That hasn't quite sunk in yet. Rehearsals went well, PB stayed and watched ballet and said it was one of the best yet and that it almost made her cry. My teacher actually said pointe looked good, a first for this year. And I got my final test grade back - 99. I'll gladly take it.

But in other, happier less nostalgic news....I finally got my ipod touch. Some of you may know that all I've ever really wanted was an ipod touch. I just never had the money to buy one big enough. But when you're graduating people practically fling money at you and so I bought one yesterday. It is white and beautiful and exciting. And like the super Psych-O  I am I named it Shawn...2.0, not Shawn, Shawn 2.0. There is a big difference. Shawn 2.0 is a very funny, very important, and most beloved episode of Psych for all Psych-os. And yes, Psych-Os is the technical term for huge Psych fans who have no signs of having an actual life outside of television and/or that particular show.

And while we're on shows, Fairly Legal last night...sigh. I love Ben. I always have. You all know that even if you don't watch the show, I talk about him all the time. But last night's episode made me love him even more. At the beginning it was fabulous enough that his "I'm shocked" phrase of choice was "Great Scott." And then he was all funny with Lauren, and then he was just plain awesome like normal....And then he uttered those three amazing words..."Winning isn't everything." Benny Grogan, you've changed and you love Kate, or as you cutely call her, Katie. And we love you for it. And that made no sense to anyone that doesn't watch that show, and no one does, I would say I'm sorry. But I'm not.

And lastly, before I go watch some HP weekend and possibly clean my bathroom....I have found a new website, it is awesome, go there now, NOW.

Later days,
Little Fairy

pictures from pictures.

Last Wednesday night was recital pictures. The last year I have to go through the chaos and crowded stress and those awful pictures where they cut off tutus on that hideous blue background. I'm glad it's over. Even though this year wasn't so bad. I'm not sure how my pictures actually turned out but we were on schdedule which was nice. Anyways, PB came along to see costumes and to document the mountainous occasion. I'm not quite sure why I'm letting you see these because I hate the way I look in dance costumes but whatever, it's your lucky day. Tonight is my last regular dance class of the year - and forever. Only extra rehearsals left. Wow. This year went by so fast...

First, Hercules. We are the muses, goddesses of the arts and proclaimers of heroes...

We like acting stupid, it distracts from the pain of pointework...

...and makes for good pictures.

You don't need to bring up my shortness, I am fully aware.

Degas. It's so pretty.

Olive and I, showing off our favorite costumes.

I need a tan before I wear that on stage...

And there ya go,
my costumes and some of my dancer friends, happy monday.
